Fashion Marketing Chair and Popular Fashion Industry Forecaster To Lead Three Sessions at Fashion Industry鈥檚 Largest Trade Show
LOS ANGELES (Feb. 15, 2016) 鈥 At this week鈥檚 MAGIC, the fashion industry鈥檚 premier trade event, noted fashion industry forecaster Wendy Bendoni — Chair of the AACSB-accredited Fashion Marketing program in the School of Business at 鈥 is poised to lead the conversation during three separate sessions at the Las Vegas gathering, including a panel featuring costume designers from Dancing with The Stars, The
Voice and American Idol.

is a professor in the business of fashion as well as an聽established international trend forecaster for the past two decades. She has the expertise to project local as well of global trends in the lifestyle market and has produced more than 280 trend/consumer reports.聽 Clients range from Nordstrom, JCPenney, Selfridges, Mercedes Benz, BCBG, Levi鈥檚, C & A, Target, Honda, Stila Cosmetics, Esprit, The Gap, Victoria Secrets and Guess.聽 Her credentials as fashion and lifestyle forecaster requires assisting retailers and manufacturers on developing design concepts and consumer behavior insight. 聽In 1990, she ran Los Angeles鈥檚 FIRST fashion forecasting firm for Report West鈥檚 International division, then in 1998 she also founded the L.A. division of WGSN for more than eight years. She has since moved to retail reporting and consumer trends for StyleLens and also developed the Lifestyle division (home design) for Design-Options. 聽She continues to develop new methods of tracking lifestyle trends through traditional means but also through using analytics to monitor consumer lifestyle interest and behavior on social media. She is currently the trends director for retail reporting and consumer trends for the largest fashion tradeshow in North America, WWDMAGIC, FNPLATFORM and Sourcing@MAGIC. 聽Bendoni is currently working on a textbook on 鈥淒igital Disruption in the Fashion Industry,鈥 due out this spring.

This lecture will explore how the future of fashion forecasting is
becoming dependent on consumers鈥 need for social confirmation before they
invest in trends. Prof. Bendoni will share successful buying tools and skill-sets that enable the industry to embrace social confirmation of trends and consumers鈥 interest, bridging the gap between engagement and social proof of fashion trends. This insight will focus on consumer choices affecting product trends, timing for the customer鈥檚 readiness for trends, as well as reinterpreting the importance of timing.
