On October 23, the College of Liberal Art鈥檚 Mathematics Department and the Math, Science, & Subject Tutoring Center celebrated 鈥淢ole Number Day鈥 on the Alumni Quad. The date, which commemorates Avogadro鈥檚 number (6.02 x 10 to the 23rd power), is recognized on college and university campuses around the world. The number is a basic unit in chemistry that is connected to the measurement of molecules, or 鈥渕oles.鈥
To celebrate, Woodbury students were invited to visit the Math, Science, & Subject Tutoring Center鈥檚 booth to play a disk drop game featuring furry mammalian moles. Students who landed on three moles won a Monte Mole Pez dispenser, while various combinations of moles and 10 (to the 23rd power) won magnetic games, stuffed animal key chains, and rubber ducks.
The Math, Science, and Subject Tutoring Center is staffed by student-tutors who can provide assistance to their peers seeking help in math, science and other subject areas.
