Paulette Singley on Teaching Architecture in the United Arab Emirates
笔谤辞蹿别蝉蝉辞谤听Paulette Singley聽recently discussed her experience as a Visiting Professor at the聽American University of Sharjah聽through an essay on . In 2017, Varkki Pallathucheril, dean of the College of Architecture, Art, and Design, invited Singley to attend final reviews in the architecture department at AUS. After learning more about the school and its student body, she聽accepted an offer from聽Pallathucheril for a visiting position during the 2017-18 academic year. As聽Singley states, it would聽become one of the most exceptional teaching experiences in her life.
Singley mentions in her essay that architectural design is considered to be a feminine vocation in the Emirates, in comparison with engineering, and that the AUS is graduating high numbers of highly driven and talented young women who are rapidly taking over the design profession in this part of the world.
