Faculty member Ed Ogosta, AIA聽was recently named a by Architectural Record.聽Since 2000, Design Vanguard has showcased emerging architects from around the world that are demonstrating inventive approaches to shaping the built environment. The 2018 Design Vanguards were included in the most recent issue of Architectural Record, The Future of Practice. These top emerging firms, all established fewer than 10 years ago, are beginning to make their mark with smart and striking projects in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, foreshadowing what鈥檚 to come.
The AR profile explores Ed’s emphasis on architectural experience.聽鈥淚鈥檓 interested in views, moments, atmosphere, how humans interact with buildings,鈥 he says. The feature touches on a range of EOA’s work, including聽Four Eyes House,聽Rear Window House and聽Hangar Office. When discussing his teaching at Woodbury, Ed focused on the senses. He tells students, to 鈥渋magine the entire building in your head before you draw a thing鈥攖he way gravel crunches, light falls, surfaces feel.鈥 By not rushing to 鈥渞andom graphic design moves, you get at the fundamental experience a person would have in that space.鈥
Ed Ogosta, AIA LEED AP is a licensed architect and Principal of Edward Ogosta Architecture in Culver City.聽Ed was selected as Woodbury鈥檚 2014 Visiting Faculty member in Architecture, and his research fellowship culminated in the exhibition Dwelling Without a Plan at the WUHO gallery. He has previously served as a Visiting Professor of Architecture at the Centro de Estudios Superiores de Dise帽o de Monterrey (CEDIM) in Monterrey, Mexico. He additionally serves as the only architect appointed to the five-member Culver City Planning Commission.
