Eric Olsen

Interim Chair, Architecture and Interior Design, WSOA


Eric Olsen鈥檚 practice explores the appropriation and creative application of technologies as both an instrument for testing ideas and a vehicle for expanding the realm of construction possibilities with a focus on imagining a new life for those things 鈥揺specially architectural products and materials 鈥搕hat are ubiquitous to the point of being rendered invisible. He maintains professional licensure in several states, including California. Eric joined 麻豆社区app with an extensive teaching background including appointments at the University of California Berkeley, California College of the Arts, the University of Michigan, the University of Colorado, and as a Graduate Student Instructor at Harvard University. His work has been published in books, magazines and journals such as Architect, Architecture, Architecture Record, Dimensions, Domus, Metropolis, Thresholds, and聽Transmaterial. He has exhibited at venues including The Architectural League of New York, Beijing Planning and Exhibition Hall, International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, International Contemporary Furniture Fair New York, Museu da Casa Brasileira, The Museum of Modern Art New York, Roca London Gallery, Salon delMobile Milano, Wired Magazine NextFest, Woodbury Hollywood Gallery, and the Zero1 Electronic Media Exposition. In addition, Eric received Metropolis Magazine鈥檚 Next Generation Award, the Donna Salzer Award for Teaching Excellence, the William Muschenheim Fellowship, and recognition as one of CNN鈥檚 Principle Voices. His work, at both Kennedy Violich Architecture and Preston Scott Cohen Architecture, twice received Progressive Architecture Awards.
